These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Staaz mobile application, web portal, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by the Staaz team.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1 Eligibility and accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding contract under Indian law to use the Service.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during sign-up and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your phone number, OTP, and any session tokens issued by Firebase Authentication.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.
2 The Service
Staaz is a software platform for managing PG and hostel operations, including tenant onboarding, bed assignment, billing, deposits, payments, maintenance tickets, staff and payroll, gate management, reporting, and notifications.
We provide the software; we do not own, operate, or manage any PG or hostel property. The PG / hostel operator using the Service is solely responsible for their property, services, agreements with tenants, and compliance with local laws.
3 User roles and responsibilities
3.1 Organisation owners and managers
- Are responsible for the accuracy of property, room, bed, tenant, billing, and staff data they enter or upload.
- Must ensure they have a lawful basis (consent or contract) to upload personal data and KYC documents of tenants and staff.
- Are responsible for managing user roles and permissions within their organisation and for the actions of users they invite.
3.2 Tenants and staff
- Must provide accurate personal and KYC information when requested.
- Use the Service only for legitimate communication, billing, and operational purposes with the PG / hostel operator.
3.3 All users
- Must comply with applicable laws, including tax, data-protection, and tenancy laws.
- Must not misrepresent their identity, role, or affiliation.
4 Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful activity.
- Upload viruses, malware, or any code intended to disrupt the Service.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our infrastructure.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from any part of the Service except as permitted by law.
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Service without our written consent.
- Use the Service to harass, defame, threaten, or discriminate against any person.
- Send unsolicited bulk communications ("spam") through the Service's notification channels.
- Misuse tenant or staff personal data for any purpose other than legitimate PG / hostel operations.
5 Payments, fees and refunds
- Platform fees: Staaz may charge subscription or transaction fees to organisation owners. Current pricing is communicated separately and may be updated with prior notice.
- Tenant payments: Payments collected from tenants via Razorpay or other gateways are governed by the gateway's own terms. Settlement to the operator's bank account is subject to the gateway's payout schedule.
- Refunds: Deposit refunds, invoice waivers, and tenant refunds are decided by the PG / hostel operator. Staaz only provides the tooling; we are not a party to any refund obligation between operator and tenant.
- Failed payments: If a transaction fails, you may retry through the in-app payment flow. Disputes regarding gateway transactions must be raised with the respective gateway.
- Taxes: All fees are exclusive of applicable taxes (including GST) unless stated otherwise. You are responsible for paying any taxes that apply to your use of the Service.
6 KYC, tenant data and consent
When an operator uploads KYC documents or personal data of tenants and staff, the operator confirms that:
- They have obtained the necessary consent from the individuals concerned.
- The data is accurate and used only for purposes related to PG / hostel operations (verification, agreements, billing, statutory compliance).
- They will respond to access, correction, and deletion requests from tenants and staff as required by law.
Staaz processes this data on behalf of the operator. Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
7 Third-party services
The Service integrates with third-party providers such as Google Firebase, Razorpay, and SMS / WhatsApp / email gateways. Your use of those services is also governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, content, or practices of any third-party service, and we do not endorse them.
8 Intellectual property
- The Service, including the Staaz name, logo, designs, code, and documentation, is owned by the Staaz team and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
- You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose during the term of your account.
- You retain ownership of the data you upload. By uploading data, you grant us a licence to store, process, and display it as needed to provide the Service.
- You may not use the Staaz name, logo, or branding without prior written permission.
9 Service availability & modifications
- We aim to keep the Service available 24×7, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, or events beyond our control.
- We may add, modify, or discontinue features at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the app, email, or this page.
- Scheduled maintenance windows will be announced in advance where reasonably possible.
10 Suspension and termination
- You may stop using the Service or request account closure at any time by contacting us.
- We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent or unlawful behaviour, fail to pay applicable fees, or if required by law.
- Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. Operational data may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
11 Disclaimer of warranties
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses; that defects will be corrected; or that the data displayed will be perfectly accurate at all times.
12 Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Staaz shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities.
- Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service, regardless of the cause of action, shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to Staaz in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or ₹10,000, whichever is higher.
13 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Staaz, its team, and affiliates from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of:
- Your breach of these Terms or applicable laws.
- Your misuse of the Service or of any tenant / staff data.
- Any dispute between you and a tenant, staff member, third party, or government authority.
14 Governing law & disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
- The courts at Chennai, Tamil Nadu shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Service.
- Before initiating any legal action, you agree to attempt to resolve the dispute informally by contacting us at the email below.
15 Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you in-app or by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after the changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
